Cream to play NYC in October!

(September 6, 2005, New York, NY) — On the heels of four hugely successful nights at London’s Royal Albert Hall and after much speculation, the eagerly anticipated Cream reunion lands in New York for three exclusive nights at Madison Square Garden. In what will be one of the must see shows of this decade and their only appearance in the U.S., legendary rock group, Cream – Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce and Eric Clapton, – will play Madison Square Garden October 24th, 25th, 26th, 2005.

Also this Fall, Rhino Home Video and Reprise Records release the bands‘ triumphant reunion performances at London’s Royal Albert Hall on DVD and CD. The London shows were brilliantly captured on HD and 5.1 surround sound. More information on these titles will be forthcoming.

Cream formed in 1966 and disbanded in 1968. In just under three years the band produced three seminal studio albums, ‘Fresh Cream’ (1966), ‘Disraeli Gears’ (1967) and ‘Wheels of Fire’ (1968) and secured worldwide acclaim and commercial success with their unique take on electrified blues. The band were a prolific and thrilling live act and toured incessantly in their short but remarkable history. Prior to the Royal Albert Hall shows, the last time the band played together was in 1993 when the group was inaugurated into the Rock and Roll Hall Of fame in Los Angeles.

These shows will be produced by Ron Delsener Presents and tickets will be available in advance to American Express cardmembers.

Cream Reunion Tour

cream Cream was the first of the great power trios of rock and roll! Their influence was immense but they were only together for two short years. Recently they came together for a reunion concert at Royal Albert Hall in London, and now the rumor from a trusted source says that the band is about to announce that the Cream Reunion Tour will be coming to New York City, October 23rd to 25th. Check back on dankster.org for updates as they develop.

UPDATE:

According to THIS post, someone called "C.I.G" or Clapton is God writes:
" that’s right!! i have it on GOOD authority (i work in the concert industry in ny) that in mid october cream will be playing at madison square garden. three night and that’s it!!! tickets are going to be hard to come by, and very expensive. probably $350 for the good seats. take my word for it. cig"

UPDATE #2:

Ron Delsner, who’s been putting on shows for well over 30 years, was quoted in the New York Times as saying, "I had them, man. Then (drummer) Ginger Baker got cold feet because he had to get through an embassy in Toronto or Ottawa."It’s long been thought that Baker would have trouble getting into the U.S. because of immigration and tax problems that forced him to relocate from Colorado to South Africa in early 2000. However, Delsner said that Baker’s marijuana arrests from the early 70’s were the problem, not his heroin use or any old government issues.

Delsner added, "I was negotiating. I even had posters made. They’ll be a collector’s item."

Pink Floyd to reunite for the first time since 1981.

It was revealed last weekend that for the first time since 1981, Roger Waters will reunite with the rest of the Floyd for one of July 2nd’s Live 8 benefit concerts. Bassist Waters split with the rest of the band due mainly to personal issues with guitarist David Gilmore. Gilmore told the press that their squabble was insignificant when compared to the cause of African relief.
This is arguably the most anticipated and exciting musical event of our generation. Fans often describe the Pink Floyd concert experience as “life changing.” Thus, it is extremely disappointing that as of now there is only the one concert scheduled and it is only open to people living in the United Kingdom. Although the performance will likely be telecasted, we will be united in our hope of an expanded forthcoming tour.
Live 8 was organized by British musician Sir Bob Geldorf, who played “Pink” in the legendary film, The Wall. There will be five concerts taking place simultaneously around the world. Geldorf has taken heat due to the lack of black artists in the various lineups. The London show will include acts such as the Cure, Sir Elton John, Sir Paul McCartney, and U2.
Live 8 is aimed at putting pressure on the upcoming G8 summit, which will be held in Scotland this July, to grant more aid to suffering African nations. This weekend the G8 announced that it would forgive more than 40 Billion dollars in debt to the poorest third world nations.

End of May Update

What follows is a brief summary of the dankest of the dank news in music today.

You thought the Killers had already done it all didn’t you? An uber-hit record, a massive world tour supporting U2 in Europe, an appearance on the OC, and even headlining the debut of the new XBOX 360. Well you were wrong. It’s been revealed that the stormin’ Mormons are planning to produce a short movie in the vein of Michael Jackson’s Thriller. The movie will highlight the songs “Midnight Show” and “Jenny Was a Friend of Mine” from the Killers’ platinum debut, Hot Fuss, and an unreleased song “Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf.” Apparently they will tell the story of a murder committed by a jealous boyfriend and its aftermath. Go get ‘em guys.

Local hipsters will be crying this summer for reasons other than just the national shortage of white belts. The White Stripes have revealed that they will not hit New York at all during this summer’s tour in support of the new album, Get Behind Me Satan. On top of that disappointing news we’ve learned that the Strokes’ third album won’t drop until sometime in 2006. Those better be some damn good three minute songs guys. Finally, the Cure will be playing a number of festivals in Europe this summer, and according to their website U.S. dates may follow in the fall. Fingers will be crossed.

Nine Inch Nails were slated to perform at next weeks MTV Movie Awards, but have pulled out over a political disagreement. The band was planning to rock out the latest single off White Teeth, “The Hand That Feeds,” (a great fucking song we’ve been toying with in Garage Band. Thanks Trent!). According to Reznor NIN wanted to play in fron of a huge backdrop of a picture of President Bush, but MTV pulled the plug, leading NIN to pull out of the show. Reznor told fans via the band’s website. “Apparently the image of our President is as offensive to MTV as it is to me.” MTV responded: “While we respect Nine Inch Nails’ point of view, we were uncomfortable with their performance being built around a partisan political statement.” The Foo Fighters are to fill the slot left vacant by NIN’s departure. Let me just say everyone over here at Dankster HQ fucking loves the new album, and is sad to have missed both dates at Hammerstein last month due to obscenely high scalping prices. Thankfully, NIN plans to tour with Queens of the Stone Age this fall and trust me, we will be there.

sirenfest 2005

Finally, the preliminary lineup for Siren Festival 2005 has been revealed, and it looks great so far. Spoon will be headlining, supported as of now by the Dears, Q And Not U, Mates of State, and more. Siren is a free independent music festival sponsored by the Village Voice and held at Coney Island. The past two years have rocked, and this one surely will as well. It’s July 16, and updates on the roster will come later.
